Benecko is the highest village in the western part of the mountain range known as Krkonoše, the Giant Mountains (750 - 1019 m). It is also the place which receives the most sunny days per year. The village is situated at the foot of Žalý Mountain, near the resort towns of Jilemnice (9 km), Vrchlabí (6 km), and Špindlerův Mlýn (7 km).
